Son ya tres las generaciones que mantienen este negocio en Daimiel, desarrollando un oficio basado en el comercio de productos adecuados para el acondicionamiento de los espacios donde a diario cuidamos nuestra higiene o estilismo. Y por extensión, todo lo que de ello se deriva.
Esta empresa, dedicada a este menester, fue fundada en 1939, por el conocido maestro albañil Galo Gómez, el maestro Galo, uno de los pioneros como tal. Trajo hasta nuestra población productos y materiales de construcción para sus propias obras, pasando a venderlos posteriormente. El hijo, también Galo, trabajó con su padre desde joven adolescente, interviniendo, entre otras cosas, en la edificación de chimeneas, especialidad que pocos dominaban, ya que solían ser de gran altura, industriales, y ello precisaba especialización y destreza. El negocio fue creciendo y ampliaron sus locales en la Calle Prim, donde aún continúan, ya desde la dirección de la tercera generación formada por Teresa, Rafael y Sagrario.

La gran expansión de este negocio familiar se produjo allá por los años 60, cuando se dotó a Daimiel de alcantarillado público. A partir de esa etapa, las viviendas particulares se amoldaron, poco a poco, a las posibilidades de saneamiento y salubridad que proporcionaba dicho alcantarillado, servicio que cambió aquel retrete rudimentario, edificado sobre el basurero del corral en las antiguas viviendas, por el cuarto de baño. Esto marcó un antes y un después en los hábitos higiénicos de la sociedad daimieleña, siendo el oficio comercial desarrollado por la empresa Galo Gómez de los más determinantes en la evolución de este gran logro. Lo ciudadanos tenían acceso a bañeras, lavabos, inodoros, mobiliario y complementos de baño y con posterioridad elementos auxiliares para personas mayores y discapacitados mediante la labor de esta empresa, que a su vez garantizaba el reemplazo de los sanitarios, que por deterioro o conveniencia, hubiera que renovar.

La polivalencia de esta compañía, les llevó hasta el Levante español en busca del complemento ideal del cuarto de baño, el azulejo, que suele revestir las paredes de dicho espacio. A su vez, este ladrillo vidriado se utilizaba en múltiples terminados y decoraciones en patios y zaguanes. Aquellos azulejos de artesanía se transportaban en trenes, dentro de unas cajas de madera y protegidos con paja de arroz, pieza por pieza.
