Muerte de Santa Clara. Composición fotográfica de Laura León y José Antonio de Lamadrid. Esta composición trata de reproducir la obra del mismo título de Bartolomé Esteban Murillo; un modo de rendir homenaje precisamente a este gran pintor sevillano.
El proyecto de Murillo fotógrafo (Sevilla, 2018) es el resultado de una admirable adaptación fotográfica en términos de composición, atmósfera y color de los cuadros seleccionados.
Para algunos historiadores, el lienzo de Murillo es el último hecho para la serie del claustro chico del convento de San Francisco de Sevilla y el de mayor calidad. Es decir, se trata de una obra de juventud. Narra cómo a su muerte santa Clara es recibida por la Virgen María y Cristo, acompañados de un séquito de santas, ataviadas con coronas, vestiduras blancas y palmas del martirio, que la cubren con un manto traído del cielo.
El lienzo se divide en dos espacios bien diferenciados. A la izquierda, un interior representa el mundo terrenal, dominado por el lecho donde santa Clara, rodeada de acólitos, acaba de expirar. Sobre un fondo oscuro se recortan elegantemente las figuras de frailes y monjas en una buena muestra del dominio del claroscuro alcanzado por Murillo. El uso del contraluz le sirve al pintor para dotar de dramatismo a la muerte de la santa y para dividir los espacios del lienzo. Es especialmente bello el contraste lumínico entre las vestimentas blanquecinas de las santas, que anuncian la gloria, y el entorno sombrío donde yace santa Clara.
El lado derecho del cuadro corresponde al mundo celestial y representa el cortejo de mártires que acompañan a la Virgen y a Cristo.
Sustraído de Sevilla durante la invasión francesa (entre otros muchos) por el Mariscal Soult, el cuadro formó parte de varias colecciones privadas en Francia e Inglaterra, antes de ser vendido en 1894 a la Galería de pintura de Dresde.
El trabajo fotográfico de Laura León y José Antonio de Lamadrid reproduce muy bien los aspectos fundamentales de la obra original. Entre ellos, de modo particular, la distinción entre la realidad terrena y la realidad celestial. Incluso me atrevería a decir que al menos en un aspecto supera al original: la transición de un mundo a otro se logra en la composición fotográfica de un modo más natural. Hasta tal punto es esto así que la impresión que nos produce es que el mundo terreno se ve desde el mundo celestial; más aún nos sumerge en él. El espectador parece contemplar la tierra desde el cielo. Es esta, en mi humilde opinión, la principal aportación de este excelente trabajo fotográfico.
El día 1 de noviembre se celebra la festividad de Todos los Santos. Es un buen momento para acercarnos a sus vidas, que tienen como rasgo común el haber aproximado el cielo a la tierra. Los santos y santas han luchado por construir el Reino de Dios aquí en nuestro mundo, por hacer realidad “unos cielos nuevos y una tierra nueva”. No es una huida del mundo, sino una transformación del mundo. Este mundo nuestro en el que “vivimos, nos movemos y existimos” sería mucho más sombrío, siniestro y sórdido sin su maravillosa colaboración. Benditos sean.

El artículo, tan oportuno en estos días próximos a la celebración de la festividad de todos los Santos, está muy bien escrito. Elogia muy merecidamente una obra maestra de la pintura Española (nada más y nada menos que Murillo!!!!) así como también una composición fotográfica, a la que hace homenaje al primero, de ejecución técnica realmente excelente. Me ha sorprendido gratamente.
No hay que olvidar, para quienes somos cristianos, el motivo fundamental del cuadro y de la composición: una Santa en proceso de transición desde lo humano a lo divino. Recreados magistralmente por Murillo y los autores de esa fotografía pero muy bien comentados también por el autor del articulo resaltando, con acierto, su espíritu y esencia.
Coincido con él que debemos dar gracias por tener Santos de esa altura. Ellos mantienen con firmeza nuestra poca fe. Por ellos la iglesia es y será siempre eterna.
En cuanto a las obras de arte sustraídas por Franceses e ingleses en sus campañas bélicas, a lo largo de la historia y a lo ancho del mundo, harían falta muchas lineas de texto para poder describir solo una pequeña parte de lo que hicieron.
