El Club Ciclista Daimiel organiza este próximo sábado 1 de julio la XV Edición del Trofeo José Antonio Pecharromán. Un trofeo que va destinado a la categoría escuelas y que se celebrará integramente en la Avenida de los Rosales de nuestra localidad, a partir de las 18,00 horas, y en donde se dará cita todos los clubes castellano-manchegos que disponen de categoría escuelas.
Una categoría, la de escuelas, en la que el Club Ciclista Daimiel es de los más potentes de la región, sobre todo en lo que al ciclismo femenino se refiere en donde es el claro dominador en Castilla la Mancha.
Un trofeo con el cual el club organizador, Club Ciclista Daimiel, rinde un año más homenaje a “Pecha”, un ciclista que se formó en las categorías inferiores del club y que llegó hasta el profesionalismo, en el cual estuvo nueve temporadas, como de todos es sabido, militando en equipos como el Costa Almeria, Quick Step (Belgica), Comunidad Valenciana o Benfica de Portugal, y que como logros más importantes tiene la Euskal Bicicleta y la Volta a Catalunya, ambas conseguidas en el año 2003, además de haber disputado varias ediciones de la Vuelta Ciclistas a España, Bélgica o Portugal, entre otras pruebas importantes por etapas.
Como se citaba anteriormente, Pecha se inició en el mundo del ciclismo de la mano del Club Ciclista Daimiel, pasando posteriormente, en categoría junior, al equipo más importante por entonces de Castilla la Mancha, el Seguros Soliss, posteriormente en categoría Sub,23 llegó a militar en el equipo madrileño del Coimpol Pargil y en el gallego del Super Froiz, para posteriormente dar el salto al profesionalismo con el Jazztel-Costa Almeria.
