Una de las diversas actividades deportivas referentes en Daimiel es el balonmano. El Club Balonmano Daimiel, con 17 temporadas ininterrumpidas compitiendo en la 2º División Nacional de la Federación pertinente de Castilla La Mancha, ha conseguido arraigarse en el ambiente deportivo de nuestra ciudad.
Fue en el año 2000 cuando se inicia la participación en competiciones federadas con el nombre de Comercial Daimieleña y plantilla de jugadores de la localidad, si bien durante este ciclo han jugado con el club jóvenes de otras poblaciones cercanas (C. Real, Villarrubia, Bolaños…), o de otros países como Rumanía o Argentina, destacando Sorin, Bernabé Peschiuta, Japo, Pituli, Manolo…, entre otros. No olvidamos al grupo de jugadores daimieleños que sentaron las bases estatutarias del club, en su fundación (Miguel Torres, David Ureña, Julián Aguirre…)

Tanto el equipo sénior como el juvenil han tenido distintos patrocinadores. Comercial Daimieleña, Interflux, Aglomerados Daimiel, Carpintería Metálica González, Miansa, Inmobiliaria Daimiel, Puente Navarro…, que han supuesto en cada momento bastión importante en la existencia del equipo de Daimiel. A su vez, durante la vida del club, se ha inculcado la filosofía de no tener sanción económica alguna, ni disciplinaria, lográndose el objetivo casi todas las temporadas, habiéndose conseguido en una ocasión el primer puesto al mérito deportivo.
La Junta Directiva ha estado compuesta por personas conocidas de Daimiel. Desde su Presidente, Miguel R. Torres, hasta sus compañeros de dirección, Joaquín Honrado, Manuel González-Aleja, Paco Bravo, Rafa Marcelino…, uniéndose posteriormente Pablo González del Campo, conocido con el apelativo de “San José”.
A su vez, el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de Daimiel está siendo determinante para la subsistencia de esta entidad deportiva, subvencionando necesidades imprescindibles como desplazamiento y arbitrajes, además de la cesión de pistas del pabellón para entrenamiento y partidos. El Club, paga las fichas y seguro deportivo de todos los jugadores, sin que éstos tengan que desprenderse de cantidad alguna.

En estos dieciocho años de vida, han pasado por la disciplina del Club Balonmano Daimiel más de doscientos jugadores. Algunos, emblemáticos como Antonio Burgos o Miguel Torres. Ambos con titulación de Entrenador Territorial, han dirigido escuelas deportivas y entrenado en distintas temporadas al equipo sénior, siendo además Miguel Torres árbitro titulado en esta disciplina. Destaca asimismo Julián Aguirre, pivote enseña del club. Más recientes, Monchi, jugador y entrenador en una temporada o Javi Espinosa jugador-entrenador con reciente titulación. Son todos ellos, deportistas que han pasado y han dado lo mejor para este club, que siempre se ha caracterizado por ser fiel cumplidor de las normas y disciplina deportiva, logrando además la implicación de un bloque humano.
El Balonmano Daimiel colabora asimismo y muy estrechamente con las Escuelas Deportivas Municipales (alevines, infantiles y cadetes), tanto en el aspecto técnico de monitores, como en ayuda a la organización y captación de niños para dichas escuelas, si bien es el Ayuntamiento el responsable de las mismas.

En la temporada que ahora empieza, tenemos dos equipos en competición, los juveniles con el nombre de  de Gaseosa La Daimieleña y el equipo sénior con el nombre de Serclym.
La práctica de este noble deporte, deja huella en todos sus jugadores, pues el hábito de unas normas estrictas y su obligado  cumplimiento, crea en los jóvenes un espíritu que se graba en su personalidad y queda presente para el futuro en la sociedad.

El Club Balonmano Daimiel, con 18 años de experiencia que se cumplen en esta temporada,  pasa a mayoría de edad, por lo que ya es, de hecho, una referencia deportiva en Daimiel.
