El Presidente saliente de “Los Moraos” es “semanasantero” desde siempre, de toda la vida. “Desde los 12 años, cuando iba al colegio, ya estaba involucrado en los moraos, con mis amigos. Cada vez me iba enganchando más; con 17años ya era el encargado del paso de Pilatos; fui prioste, encargado de los exornos florales y posteriormente se me encomendó el mantenimiento y atención de la Iglesia de la Paz; así mismo formé parte de la Comisión del 4º Centenario de la Cofradía y de la primera Junta Económica de la Hermandad.” Casi 40 años al servicio de la Hermandad.
Andrés Márquez fue elegido hace 8 años como Presidente por mayoría, siendo el cargo que más votos ha aglutinado en la historia democrática de los moraos, presentándose tres candidaturas en aquellos comicios.
“Mi devoción y mi constante quehacer en la Hermandad me movió para presentarme como candidato al cargo, pero siempre haciendo mi labor como si nada hubiera cambiado, hice de Presidente los mismos trabajos y servicios que cuando era un chiquejo, junto con la responsabilidad inherente al cargo. Vine a servir y sirviendo me voy.”

            Conversamos con Andrés acerca de la dificultad de gobernar una congregación de 5.000 personas, afiliados a los moraos en muchos casos desde su nacimiento… “Todo ha sido posible con la ayuda y participación de mis compañeros y amigos de la Junta, más los colaboradores anónimos, gente sin cargo pero que trabajan lo mismo que si lo tuvieran. Muchos colaboradores totalmente desinteresados, dada la gran predisposición de Daimiel hacia la imagen de Jesús.”
Durante estos 8 años de mandato el Presidente saliente y su Junta han experimentado también momentos de dificultad, momentos malos…”El peor momento ocurrió nada más tomar posesión, al recibir el Patrimonio muy deteriorado por el tremendo aguacero que sufrió la procesión en aquel 2009. Ni los más viejos del lugar recordaban tal deterioro. Gente que lloraba y a la vez colaboraban aportando el mismo Viernes Santo toallas nuevas, incluso con la etiqueta puesta, paños nuevos con tal de mitigar en caliente los efectos perniciosos de la tormenta. Ahí comprobamos lo que significa la Cofradía para nuestra ciudad, por otro lado momentos malos se pasan al decidir la salida o no de la Procesión por amenaza de lluvia, después de la experiencia relatada, con lo que repercute en la población que Jesús esté en la calle; suspendimos en dos ocasiones, con sensatez y buen criterio, pero pasando el mal trago”
Por el contrario, los buenos momentos también dejan recuerdos felices e impagables… “La llegada a Daimiel del Cardenal Carlos Amigo a los actos del 25 Aniversario de la Virgen, la bendición del paso nuevo de “La Coronación de Espinas”, la bendición de la nueva túnica de Jesús, con el trabajo artístico de Francisco Carrera Iglesias “Paquili”, el bordador más importante en la actualidad y que difunde nuestra Cofradía por todo el mundo. Un buen momento, especial, fue acompañar al Cardenal al refugio de Jesús para orar, calificando el prelado aquel lugar como “la ventana del cielo: desde aquí se ve a Dios”, fueron sus palabras. Tanto el Cardenal como “Paquili” transmiten una imagen superior de nuestra Hermandad por el mundo.”
“Otros momentos buenos se dieron al celebrarse en Daimiel el Congreso Nacional de Hermandades de Jesús Caído, participando 21 cofradías del resto de España, batiéndose records de participación y celebrando la misa Pontifical el Cardenal Carlos Amigo, retransmitiéndose por 13 TV”.

Acerca de las acciones emprendidas en la Cofradía durante su Presidencia, Márquez nos remite al deseo de hacer partícipes a los cofrades en las actuaciones religiosas, base de nuestros cultos y creencias. “Somos pioneros en la provincia de Ciudad Real en la formación de grupos para recibir la Confirmación y hemos crecido en esta acción. También hemos incidido mucho en dar a conocer al exterior la Cofradía, por medio de TCM, TV13, La 2, El Cupón de la Once con la imagen de nuestra Virgen, Lotería Nacional con la imagen de Jesús… El aspecto solidario de la Cofradía, fue una apuesta firme y variada en nuestras actuaciones, siendo el torneo de Fútbol Sala en Navidad el acto que más recursos económicos nos ha aportado, revertiendo todo ello en instituciones diversas, como misioneros, Casa de Abraham, parroquias, etc.”
Respecto al posible deseo de su continuidad, Andrés fue muy claro…”Creo que es bueno un tope máximo de 8 años de mandato para este cargo tan representativo de Daimiel. Por otro lado, físicamente no estoy cansado, pero sicológicamente dirigir los moraos con tanta responsabilidad y constancia,  sí que cansa”.
La importancia del nuevo paso de “La Coronación de Espinas” quedó de manifiesto ante las palabras de su autor, Darío Fernández Parra, andaluz internacional, con obra en gran parte del mundo, obra bien hecha. Anatómicamente, según el artista, el conjunto escultórico es perfecto. “Algún día esta obra se estudiará en los libros”, dijo en Daimiel.
Cerramos la charla con A. Márquez refiriéndonos al Certamen de Bandas en la mañana del Jueves Santo, indicándonos que “era algo añorado, por lo que apostamos por recuperar el óptimo ambiente que aportaba a la Semana Santa de Daimiel, y la gente lo aprecia”.
